File Monitor

Privacy policy

This notice describes File Monitor's owner-operated personal monitoring workflow and its Google Sheets reporting connection.

Effective October 8, 2026

This policy is public. It contains no monitored file inventory, report records, or credentials.

Purpose and operator

File Monitor is operated by its owner for personal file-integrity checks and report review. Its operational dashboard is private.

Data used by the reporting connection

The connection is designed to use an authorized private Google spreadsheet to store and retrieve monitoring reports sent from the owner's virtual machine. Reports may contain file metadata, integrity-check results, observed changes, and report timestamps. That report data is displayed in the private dashboard.

This describes the intended Google-connected workflow. Publication of this policy does not mean that a Google connection has been authorized or that a migration has been completed.

Google permissions

When the owner authorizes Google access, the connection requests the drive.file scope. This grants access to files created by the app or explicitly selected and shared with it by the owner, including the report spreadsheet. It does not grant general access to the owner's entire Google Drive.

Google describes this per-file permission in its Drive API scope documentation.

How report data is used and shared

Report data is used to support file-integrity monitoring and private report display. It is not sold, used for advertising, or published on these information pages.

The workflow uses the owner's virtual machine, Google Sheets, and the private dashboard's hosting service to process, store, or display the reports. These public pages are separate from that operational data.

Authorization and stored reports

The owner can review or revoke the Google connection through the Google Account's third-party connections settings. Revocation prevents future access through that authorization; it does not automatically delete previously stored reports.

Report storage and any removal of existing records are managed by the owner in the systems that hold those records. This notice does not promise a fixed retention period or automatic deletion.

These public pages

These static information pages contain no forms, advertising, or analytics scripts. They do not connect to Google data or the private monitoring dashboard. The hosting provider may process ordinary request data needed to serve the pages.

The pages ask search engines not to index them, but they are publicly reachable. An unlisted address is not an access restriction.
